Kelly McDermott Dychus, the artist behind Midnight Moon Cakery, started her journey into baking, like many, at a young age. Originally pursuing a career in biology and forensic science, she felt her calling was in the arts. During this time, she was baking and honing her pastry skills which ultimately lead her to pursue pastry arts as a career.
In January 2010 Kelly graduated from the prestigious French Culinary Institute in the heart of Manhattan. Starting work with friends and family, she was able to grow her clientele and develop the beginnings of what would eventually become Midnight Moon Cakery. After venturing out into the professional pastry world working in many different venues, she now focuses on creating exquisite cakes and confections her way.
Combined with her natural gift for art, Her classical French culinary training allows her to produce some of the most delicious and exciting flavors all completely from scratch. Kelly has been able to delight customers with cakes and confections that not only look pretty, but are truly delicious. She strives to create flavors that excite the palate and highlight essence of the ingredients.
In addition to Midnight Moon Cakery, Kelly is also the executive pastry chef and a managing partner of Harvest Hospitality Group.
